Hemal, I have sympathy for you. You lost a job which it sounds like you worked very hard for and that sucks.

That being said, you have to held accountable for your actions. What you tweeted was incredibly thoughtless, and USA Today is justified in firing you for what you said.

Throughout this entire article, you make excuses for yourself. On multiple occasions you distort the facts of what happened in order to create a narrative which paints you as a blameless victim in this scenario. You were not fired for "calling out whiteness". You were fired because you tried to use a tragedy to leverage your political beliefs, and castigate a huge group of people as always being the perpetrators of horrendous crimes.

Instead of blaming the world for your mistake, maybe you should take a step back. Rethink the ways in which your political views have conditioned you to think you can make racist comments about white people and be applauded for it.
